Backed by $33 million in venture capital, the search engine began processing requests for the first time Monday. Cuil is the brainchild of former Google employees. Cuil's search index spans 120 billion Web pages.------------------------ -------------General Motors will slash production by another 117,000 vehicles, citing continued weakness in consumer demand for pickups and sport utility vehicles. GM says the cuts will come by eliminating one shift each at its Moraine, Ohio, and Shreveport, La., plants. The production cuts will increase the total number to just under the 300,000 units GM officials had hoped to drop this year.------------------------- --------Bankrupt retailer Linens 'n Things will close fewer stores than originally anticipated.The home furnishings and bedding retailer said it will only close 57 stores in the latest part of its restructuring.
